Smith River Fire Protection District is dedicated to provide the highest standard of fire safety, rescue, and emergency medical service to residents, and visitors of our communities and mutual aid areas.
Smith River Fire responded to a report of a vegetation fire at MPM 9 on Low Divide Road, Saturday afternoon July 31, 2021 at 3:37PM. The fire was ultimately reported as 16 acres, and was contained later that afternoon.
SRFPD was first on scene, and one of the new “Type 6” engines, A-9267, was the first to flow water.
We are thankful for the US Forest Service, CalFire, Fort Dick Fire, Crescent Fire and Rescue, Gasquet Fire, Alder Camp, and Pelican Bay SP fire crews. CalFire provided quite an air show in the effort to contain this wild land fire.
If there is a fire in your home, you could have less than 2 minutes to get out safely once the smoke alarm sounds.
Smith River Fire will be open for Trick or Treaters on Halloween starting at 6 pm.
